Howard loves the simplicity of the 'shoe last' it is a very practical foot shaped timber mould used as the fundamental form over which shoes are fabricated. The last therefore dictates the shoes size, shape, style and acts as an industrial blue print which ensures consistency of form. This adjustable Beech vintage French shoe last shows obvious vestiges of industrial use and the patina of age and use give it a beautiful character, lending it perfectly to becoming an up-cycled table light. The light fitting is mounted on the shaped adjustable handle of the shoe last and the last is mounted on a shaped solid Beech base to give the light stability. Up-cycling this vintage French shoe last gives characterful functionality to an old and no longer wanted piece of industrial heritage.
