Rachel studied Fashion & textiles (specialising in embroidery) at
Birmingham City University, undertaking both a B.A and an M.A course before
graduating in 1994.
She is an artist with a difference. She is a painter of land and
seascapes, birds and animals, but her tools are not brushes and palette.
Instead, her paintbox is an array of wonderful fabrics and her brush strokes
are created by needle and thread.Working on a normal domestic sewing machine,
she uses machine embroidery worked over a jigsaw of carefully selected cut and
pieced fabrics, drawing and painting with the fabrics and threads.
She exhibits and sells her work through exhibitions and galleries mostly
in Bucks and Oxfordshire.
She is a founding member of The Buckinghamshire Craft Guild and takes
part in Bucks Art weeks each year. She is also a regular exhibitor with 'The
Art Exhibitionists’
