‘Moody Carnations’, a bold, yet delicate loose watercolour interpretation. I like to show different growth aspects of this plant and
the ‘receptacles’ below the petals. The counterbalance of the flowers against

the vase was carefully considered to enable some of them to overhang and
contrast against it. In retrospect, I particularly like the crisp ellipse at the top
of the vase. Spattering and a faded-out background seem to be my signature
technique. Again, as I look more closely, and am reminded of its conception, I
portrayed a delicate tablecloth to boot! Altogether, a pleasing composition and
colour palette.
The mount and frame together create a complimentary/holistic feeling
to this delicate watercolour.
