‘Geraniums and Poppies' was a lot of fun to paint! I always like a challenge,
and the glass vase was just that, to capture the immersion of the stems in the
water. Geraniums, on the other hand, are like happy faces all clustered together
like a crowd of people being totally contrasted by the architectural spherical
structure of the poppy heads. The cool, dark background helps the composition
to come forward while its delicate fading edges creates an ethereal image.
The mount and frame together create an ethereal feeling to this delicate
watercolour.
